Privacy and Data Handling
The American Values & Freedoms Survey is anonymous. The survey does not ask for your name, phone number, or email address at any point.
What we store with your answers
- Your answers and any optional written comments
- The recruitment channel your link came from, plus campaign parameters
- The referring website address, if your browser provided one
- Whether you used a phone, tablet, or desktop computer
- Survey version, start time, completion time, and duration
- The randomized order in which sections and choices appeared to you
What we do not store
- Full IP addresses
- Names, phone numbers, or email addresses inside the survey
- Any link between your contact information and your individual answers
Duplicate detection
To protect data quality we store a coarse, hashed device signature, such as your language, time-zone offset, and rounded screen size. It is deliberately low resolution. It cannot be used to identify you, only to flag likely repeat participation for human review.
Optional email signup
If you choose to request the final report after submitting, your first name, email address, and ZIP code are stored in a separate table from survey responses. Individual survey answers are never attached to that contact record and are never sold.
Security
- Row-level security allows anonymous submissions only while a survey is fielding
- No public access to individual response records
- Data exports are restricted to authenticated administrators
- Open-ended text is sanitized and length limited before storage
- Additional verification is requested only when behavior looks automated
Data retention
Anonymous response data is retained for as long as the published research remains available, so that results can be audited. Email subscribers may request removal at any time through the contact page on StanleyGauss.com.
